Choose the feed type that best fits your website:
- YouTube Channel Feed : Display recent videos from any YouTube channel using a Channel ID or @handle.
- YouTube Playlist Feed : Display videos from any public YouTube playlist.
- YouTube Shorts Feed : Showcase vertical YouTube Shorts in a responsive 9:16 layout.
- Individual Video Feed : Display specific YouTube videos that you want to feature on your website.
- Embed Video : Paste a single YouTube video URL and embed it instantly β no YouTube API key required.
- YouTube Search Feed : Automatically display videos based on a YouTube search query.
- YouTube Channel Profile : Display a complete channel profile with the channel banner, avatar, channel name, subscriber count, video count, view count, and Subscribe button.
π¨ Flexible Layouts & Display Options
Customize the appearance of your YouTube feeds to match your website design. Choose from multiple layout options such as Grid, List, Cards, and Carousel, and control the number of videos, columns, and other display settings.
Create different feeds for different pages or sections of your website and customize each feed independently.
π Elementor Integration
Captain Feed for YouTube works smoothly with Elementor, allowing you to add YouTube feeds directly inside the Elementor editor. You can combine your YouTube feeds with other Elementor elements to create custom video sections, landing pages, portfolio layouts, and more.
Elementor is optional. You can also use the plugin with any modern WordPress theme using the generated shortcode.
β‘ Performance Optimized
The plugin includes built-in API response caching using WordPress transients. Cached YouTube data helps reduce unnecessary API requests, minimize YouTube API quota usage, and improve frontend loading performance.
You can create and display your feeds without making repeated API requests for every page view.
π± Fully Responsive YouTube Feeds
Your YouTube feeds are designed to work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Create responsive layouts that automatically adapt to different screen sizes and provide a better viewing experience for your visitors.
YouTube Shorts can also be displayed using a dedicated vertical 9:16 layout designed for short-form video content.
π YouTube Search Feeds
Use the YouTube Search Feed to display videos based on a specific search query. This makes it easy to create dynamic video sections around topics, keywords, brands, or other content you want to showcase.
π¬ Showcase Individual Videos
Have specific videos you want to promote? Use the Individual Video feed to display selected videos directly on your website. This is useful for featured videos, tutorials, announcements, product videos, interviews, and other important content.
π Built-in Documentation
The plugin includes a built-in Documentation section with guides to help you get started with the YouTube Data API, Channel IDs, YouTube @Handles, Playlist IDs, and other required information.
You do not need to search through external documentation to understand the basic setup process.
π YouTube Data API Integration
Captain Feed for YouTube uses the official YouTube Data API v3 provided by Google to retrieve YouTube content. You can configure your YouTube API key from the plugin settings and use it to create and manage your feeds.
π Version Rollback
The built-in Rollback feature allows you to restore a previous plugin version directly from the WordPress admin dashboard when needed. This provides an easy way to return to an earlier version without manually uploading plugin files.
𧩠No Coding Required
Create and customize YouTube feeds through the WordPress admin dashboard. Once your feed is configured, simply use the generated shortcode to display it anywhere on your website.
π€ MCP / AI Assistant Integration
Captain Feed for YouTube can register itself with WordPress’s core Abilities API (WordPress 6.9+), so AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT can create, list, update, duplicate, delete, and diagnose your YouTube feeds through natural language β via any MCP bridge plugin (such as Easy MCP AI or the official WordPress MCP Adapter). This is entirely optional: on WordPress versions before 6.9, or without an MCP bridge plugin installed, the rest of the plugin works exactly the same. Every AI ability can be individually switched on or off from the plugin’s MCP page, and is restricted to users with the “manage_options” capability.

External Services
Captain Feed for YouTube connects to the YouTube Data API v3 provided by Google to retrieve YouTube channel information, playlists, Shorts, search results, and video details for display on your website.
For the Embed Video feed type, the plugin instead uses YouTube’s public oEmbed endpoint (www.youtube.com/oembed) to retrieve just the video’s title and channel name β no YouTube API key is sent or required for this feed type.
Data sent to the YouTube Data API:
- YouTube API Key : Used to authenticate API requests
- Channel ID or @Handle : Used to retrieve videos from a YouTube channel
- Playlist ID : Used to retrieve videos from a YouTube playlist
- Video ID(s) : Used to retrieve details for selected videos
- Search Query : Used for search-based video feeds
Data sent to YouTube’s oEmbed endpoint (Embed Video feed type only):
- Video URL : The single YouTube video URL entered when creating the feed
When data is sent:
The above information is sent to Google’s servers only when:
- A YouTube feed is loaded on the frontend
- A feed is previewed in the WordPress admin dashboard
- Cached feed data expires and needs to be refreshed
Visitor Privacy:
Captain Feed for YouTube does not collect or transmit visitors’ personal data to Google or YouTube. Only the YouTube content identifiers and search information required to retrieve the configured feed are sent to the YouTube Data API.
