Chimely increases conversion rates on your WordPress website by displaying recent sales, signups and live visitor activity.

Recent Activity — show live purchases, signups or bookings the moment they happen, pulled from WooCommerce, WordPress comments, new user signups, manual entries, or a CSV import.

Conversion Count — share the total number of signups, downloads or purchases in a given time window (today, last 7 days, last 30 days, all time) to signal momentum.

Visitor Count — show how many people are viewing a page right now, based on a real, privacy-friendly presence heartbeat (not a fake random number), with an optional natural minimum for quiet pages.

Data Sources

  • Manual entries (add rows directly in the notification editor)
  • CSV import (download the sample file, fill it in, upload it)
  • WordPress comments
  • WordPress user registrations
  • WooCommerce orders (HPOS compatible)
  • Google Reviews (via the Google Places API, using your own API key and Place ID)

Features

  • Unlimited notifications, each fully independent
  • Position, color, corner radius, image size and close-button controls per notification
  • Display rules: specific URLs (with wildcards), logged-in/out visibility, desktop/mobile targeting
  • Timing controls: initial delay, display duration, delay between notifications, looping
  • [chimely id="123"] shortcode to embed Conversion Count / Visitor Count anywhere
  • No license key, no feature gating — everything in this plugin is available out of the box

External services

This plugin relies on the following third party services. Neither is required to use the plugin: the first is only reached if you switch a notification to the Google Reviews source, the second only if a notification displays an avatar for an entry that has an email address.

Google Places API

Used by the optional “Google Reviews” data source to read the review count and recent reviews for the Google Business Profile you point it at, so they can be displayed as social proof notifications.

The plugin sends a request to https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/details/json containing the Google Places API key and the Place ID that you enter yourself on the plugin’s Settings screen, plus the fields being requested. No information about your site, your visitors or your customers is included in that request. The request is made from your server (never from a visitor’s browser), only when a notification using the Google Reviews source is displayed, and the result is cached so it is not repeated on every page view. If you never select the Google Reviews source, no request is ever made.

Gravatar

Used to display a profile picture next to an entry in a notification, matching WordPress’s own default behaviour for comment avatars.

When an entry has an email address (for example a WooCommerce customer or a comment author), the plugin renders an image tag pointing at https://www.gravatar.com/avatar/ with an MD5 hash of that email address in the URL. The image is requested by the visitor’s browser, which means the visitor’s IP address and the hashed email address reach Gravatar’s servers. The plain email address is never sent. Entries with no email address get a locally generated initials avatar instead and cause no external request.
