PaySlate Invoicing and Payment Requests for WordPress with Stripe and Square

PaySlate is a billing system that runs inside WordPress. Send a client a bill, they click and pay it with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the invoice marks itself paid by webhook. There is no third-party portal, no account for them to create, and no WooCommerce store to set up first.

PaySlate is a WordPress invoice plugin that handles the whole billing cycle for client invoicing and payment requests. Bill for an agreed amount, itemise the work, or ask for a deposit before you start. Whichever you send, the client opens a link on your site and pays on it.

That last part is the difference. Most WordPress invoicing plugins produce a document. PaySlate produces a bill your client can settle, then records what came in against what was owed.

Cards work the moment you connect a gateway. Wallets and pay-later options follow whatever your own gateway account, country and currency support, so treat the list as what is reachable rather than a promise that every method is on for every store.

Take a deposit, or let them pay part of it

Service work runs on money up front. Ask for a deposit before you start, let a client pay the full balance, or accept a custom amount. PaySlate tracks the remaining balance for you, so a part-paid invoice never turns into guesswork.

Know what you are owed, without a spreadsheet

Every invoice carries a status you can read at a glance. It moves through draft, sent and viewed, then lands on partial, paid or overdue, and cancelled and refunded are there for the cases that do not end tidily. Receipts send themselves when a payment clears. Overdue reminders go out on their own, so chasing an unpaid bill stops being something you have to remember.

Billing software, not a PDF generator

Most WordPress invoicing tools build a document and stop there. You still print your bank details on it and wait, then reconcile by hand when something lands. That is document generation wearing a billing label.

PaySlate keeps the ledger. Every client, invoice, line item, payment and refund is a record, so the plugin knows what was billed, what has been paid, what is still outstanding and when each of it happened. The client pays on the bill itself, and the payment posts against the invoice without you touching anything.

You can still print or save a PDF from the invoice page when an accountant asks for one. It just is not the product.

No WooCommerce required

PaySlate bills a named client for an agreed amount and runs on its own. If you have been looking for invoicing without WooCommerce, this is it. If you do run WooCommerce, PaySlate coexists with it and can reuse a Stripe configuration you already have.
