Discover Readiness helps WordPress publishers check several practical technical items related to Google Discover preparation.
The plugin:
- Adds
max-image-preview:largethrough WordPress’ native robots API. - Checks whether the site is allowing search engine indexing.
- Checks whether the current content is published or scheduled.
- Checks for a featured image.
- Reports featured-image dimensions.
- Flags images under 1,200 pixels wide as failing Google’s large-image recommendation.
- Calculates the featured image’s total pixel count.
- Flags images containing 300,000 total pixels or fewer.
- Updates featured-image and publish-status checks live in the WordPress block editor.
- Confirms WordPress can generate a public URL for the content.
- Links editors to Google’s official Discover documentation.
The plugin does not guarantee that content will appear in Google Discover. Google determines Discover eligibility and distribution.
Lightweight and Clean
Discover Readiness is intentionally lightweight.
It does not create custom database tables, save plugin settings, add options, or store its own post metadata. Its checks are performed dynamically using information WordPress already maintains.
If you no longer need the plugin, simply deactivate and delete it. There is no plugin-generated database data to clean up afterward.
