UseMinted Analytics for WooCommerce

UseMinted Analytics for WooCommerce connects a WordPress or WooCommerce store to Minted (useminted.com). The plugin does five things:

1. Connects your store to Minted from WordPress. Go to Analytics → Minted and select Connect to Minted. Minted opens in a new tab; sign in, choose the store this site belongs to, and confirm. There is nothing to copy and nothing to paste, and no keys or secrets are stored in the plugin file.
2. Adds the Minted tracking script to your store automatically. Once the store is connected there is nothing to enter. No theme editing and no manual code snippets.
3. Keeps visitor identification stable. Some browsers limit how long script-created identifiers last, which causes returning visitors to be counted as new. The plugin sets the identifier from your own site’s server instead, so a visitor who returns weeks later is still recognised as the same visitor.
4. Makes sure Minted hears about every order change. Your orders reach Minted through WooCommerce’s own webhooks, which Minted sets up on your store when you connect it. Some stores filter WooCommerce webhooks so that email and marketing tools only see paid orders. Such a filter also stops Minted from learning that an order was cancelled, put on hold or refunded. The plugin delivers Minted’s own order webhooks whatever those filters decide. Every other integration still receives only what your filters allow, and checkout drafts are never sent.
5. Tells Minted how the store is doing, once an hour. The report contains the plugin version, WordPress version, WooCommerce version, your site address, and whether Minted’s order webhook is in place. Nothing else. A copy of the plugin that is not connected to a Minted store sends no report at all.

A connection belongs to one web address. If you copy your site to a staging server, the copy stops reporting and the Minted page there says so, so a test copy can never add to your real store’s figures.

UseMinted is an independent product built by the team at useminted.com. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Minted, LLC (minted.com).

Data and privacy

• The plugin stores two cookies in the visitor’s browser: a random identifier, and the time the identifier was last set. Neither contains personal information.
• The plugin does not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal data.
• The plugin adds two public API endpoints under /wp-json/minted/v1/: one that sets the visitor identifier and one that reports the plugin’s version information. Neither exposes user or customer data.

External services

This plugin connects your store to Minted, a third-party analytics service operated at useminted.com by Minted. A Minted account is required, and everything described below is sent to that account and shown in its dashboard. Nothing is sent anywhere until you connect the store.

• Tracking script. Once the plugin is connected, every page of your store loads Minted’s tracking script from the tracking hostname in the plugin settings (by default t.useminted.com). The script sends page views, cart and checkout activity, and the visitor identifier to Minted so they appear in your Minted dashboard.
• Orders. When your store is connected, Minted subscribes to your WooCommerce order webhooks, so each order and each later change to it — including the order total, its currency and its status — is sent to https://api.useminted.com/webhook/. This plugin’s part is to make sure those webhooks are delivered even when other code on your site filters them; it does not send orders itself.
• Connecting. When you select Connect to Minted, your browser opens https://app.useminted.com/connect/wordpress with your site address so Minted can show you which site you are connecting. When you confirm, your site sends your site address and the plugin version to https://api.useminted.com/plugin/connect/exchange and receives a key that is kept on your site and never shown on screen.
• Hourly report. Once an hour a connected store sends the information listed above to https://api.useminted.com/plugin/status.
• Daily status report. A store connected the older way, by entering a store ID and tracking address by hand, sends that information once a day to https://api.useminted.com/plugin/health instead.
