Yodsira Accessibility Markup Audit

Yodsira Accessibility Markup Audit does not add widgets to your site. It finds real markup problems — and, for safe categories, fixes the actual DOM after showing you exactly what will change.

The audit scans your homepage, latest posts and one static page (on a schedule or on demand) and reports:

  • images without alt text
  • skipped heading levels (h2 h4) and multiple h1
  • links and buttons with no accessible name (icon-only links)
  • form fields without labels
  • pages that do not declare their language (<html lang>)
  • missing or empty <title>
  • generic link text (“read more”, “click here”)

Every issue comes with a severity and a one-phrase “how to fix” — the report is useful on its own, even if you fix everything by hand.

The repairs (each is a separate toggle):

Safe, on by default:

  • fill missing alt from the media library title/alt field
  • declare the page language on <html>
  • add scope to table headers

Risky, off by default — review the preview first:

  • accessible names for unlabeled controls (from URL slugs / placeholders)
  • titles for untitled iframes

Preview before anything goes live. The plugin records every attribute it would add — target, attribute, new value — and shows the list before you enable a repair. Nothing is ever removed from your markup; repairs only add attributes. When a repair has nothing to change, the page is served byte-for-byte unchanged.

Honest scope: automated checks catch a part of WCAG issues (roughly the mechanical 20–40%); contrast, focus order and ARIA patterns still need a human expert. Use it to keep the floor high and the report short.

Why not an overlay? Overlay widgets that inject toolbars and rewrite the page at runtime are rejected by the accessibility community: they don’t fix markup, sometimes break assistive tech, and create false confidence. Yodsira Accessibility Markup Audit is the opposite approach: find problems, fix the markup, show your work.

External Services

This plugin can send notifications ONLY to the service you configure in its
own settings. The only connection to the developer’s own service is the
optional, off-by-default error telemetry described below — nothing is sent
until you enable it yourself.

— Telegram notifications —
* What the service is: Telegram Bot API (api.telegram.org), used to deliver
instant alerts to your own bot and chat.
* What data is sent and when: a short alert text with your site name and the
event details – sent only when the monitored event fires or when you press
the test button in settings.
* Opt-in: the feature is fully disabled until you enter your own bot token
and chat id; clearing them switches it off.
* Terms: https://telegram.org/tos
* Privacy: https://telegram.org/privacy

  • Optional, off by default: anonymous error reports. If the admin enables
the checkbox on the Audit page, a daily batch of sanitized scanner error
signatures (message, file name:line, versions, site address) is sent to
https://yodsira.com/api/telemetry so scan failures get fixed faster.
Nothing is sent while the checkbox is off.
Why: I am an independent developer, and this is the only way I learn about
bugs I cannot reproduce myself. The free plugin makes no requests at all
until you enable this option; when an error happens, an anonymous
signature is sent to yodsira.com so I can fix it in the next release.
Nothing else ever leaves your site, and you can switch it off at any
moment. Every report is read by a human.
Example of exactly what one report looks like (sanitized):

`message: “Call to a member function get_id() on null” — file: file.php:123 — culprit: plugin other-plugin — versions: plugin 0.2.3, WordPress 6.8, PHP 8.2
That is the whole payload — no content, no user data, no usage tracking.
Disabling telemetry clears any queued reports immediately.

How the scan works

The daily scan fetches your site’s own pages over HTTP (the same way a
visitor’s browser would) and checks each page against nine concrete
rules, for example: images without meaningful alt text, links that
contain only an icon with no accessible name, buttons and toggles
missing state attributes, and headings that skip levels. The scan runs
from your own admin dashboard – no external service is involved and no
page content leaves the site. Findings are listed with the exact URL,
the rule that matched and a suggested fix you can preview before
applying.
